to jump start a car the following procedure applies
place the positive lead from the jump battery onto the positive terminal of the car battery (clip on)
place the negative lead of the jump battery onto the engine ( clip on) not the car battery terminal
this prevents power surges through the ECM
remove the jump battery is the reverse procedure
to reset an ECM use a scan tool
there are jumper leads now on the market which have surge protection in a lead so in that case positive to positive and negative to negative

If your security light is on, then this is the problem. The security has it's own module, not in the radio. Turn the key on (don't start) let it sit for ten minutes, turn it off for five seconds and then try to start the car. This resets the security. To check the fuel pump. Find the fuel pump relay and pull it out. Put a jumper wire in the relay socket at terminals 87 and 30. 30 is power all times and 87 goes to the pump. If you have power at 30 and jump the relay socket and the pump still wont come on. Then either there is a bad wire (power or ground) or the pump is dead.
Your pump is controlled by the PCM. Recommend you interrogate the relay socket to see if the PCM is trying to turn it on. You could also jump the relay there to see if the truck will start. If you want to jump the relay socket, be careful not to put 12 volts into the PCM. You want to jump the hot terminal to the load terminal, which should have a much lower resistance than the PCM. Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check .These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me.
just wrote this post and came across your problem i had some time ago , this will fix it . you can reset it by removing negative battery terminal while leaving
positive terminal connected . open driver side door get in close door ,
put key in ignition turn over key almost all the way but do not start .
you should here the throttle body aligning itself . leave key in this
position for 15 seconds , remove key connect negative terminal and the
throttle body should be set . this has been called the chicken dance and
it works fine . what this does is resets the computer , key note though
if you are planning to get your car inspected
it will not pass until you have drove the car for at least 300
miles . being that the computer has to go through and set everything . i
learned the hard way . throttle body problems usually happen when
removing old battery improperly/battery being drained/improperly or jump
starting the car/improperly , make sure when removing battery that the
positive terminal is removed first , jumping a battery negative terminal
is always connected first on both vehicles .
If the bat went dead and was disconnected it can take 25 to 50 miles of driving for computer to reset sensors and controls. Sounds like MAF Sensor maybe reading different than when it was first driven. Did you drastically change climates or altitudes, New readings from when it originally was put into service. Slight changes in temp, alt and other variables gradually reset, if driving does not improve within 50 miles it will need diagnostics.
