I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard "All fuses are OK" or "I already checked the fuse" or "I know it's not the fuse"....I'd be a rich man!
When cigarette lighters quit working, 99% of the time the fuse is blown because someting got plugged into it like a defective phone charger. The other 1% of the time, it is because the lighter element is burned out or somebody essed with the wires to the cigarette lighter trying to install some kind of aftermarket equipment.
Humor me and check Fuse #9 (20 Amp) in the passenger side fuse and relay box.
if u look in your manual under fuses or cig lighter it shows u where it is located. when u open your hood there is a box labeled fuse box and if u take the cover off u find various type of fuses. there is a chart to show u which one is for the cig lighter. when u find it take it out and check if the fuse is burnt. if it is you r lucky. all u hav to do is by some fuses at sears for $3 and put one in. make sure its the correct size. if your fuse is not burnt u may hav a bigger problem tht i dont know how to fix. this sounds complicated but it truly is simple. im 16 and i had no trouble.
The Cig. lighter fuse is located in the fuse box inside the vehicle to the left of the sterring wheel by the brake pedal. It is in the number 25 position and should be a yellow colored 20 amp fuse (see picture below). This should be in your owners manua if you have one. If you want a copy of one just email me at email@example.com with your make, model & year and I will be happy to email you a copy. Don't worry it's free.
