Question about 1997 Dodge Ram

97 dodge ram window and door lock problems

I can roll the driver window up and down no problem, but I can only roll down the passanger side, it only goes up some times, then I'll let it sit and try it again and it will go up. It seems to have a mind of its own. Im wondering if it it the switch or the regulator? also the power locks dont work. Is there a part I can buy to replace these and get them fixed. Im not real mechanical, but I did fix my wifes power window on her suburban by replacing the gadget that makes the window go up and down. I think I could fix this if I could get the right parts. Thanks for any help

I have a similar problem. Driver side switches operate every thing just fine, but the passenger side switch will only roll up window, not down. Door lock on same side only unlocks, will not lock. I thought maybe there was some kind of child safety device but haven't found one. Is it just the switch going out or is there a safety device? If so, how do I disengage it?

I have had the same problem, the passenger side window was stuck in the up position. I too thought it was the motor but after removing the door panel to get at the switch it started working again. Replaced the switch and has been fine ever since.

Hi my names is Allen!

Chrysler vehicles have a lot of problems with the regulator/motor assemblies, but first lets make sure its not the switch. See if you can get it to stop working again, once it stops go to the other switch and see if it works from that switch. If it does not work from either switch, then the most likely cause is the regulator/motor assembly.

Before running out and buying the part I have a question, when the window quits working, does all the other windows work ok? If they do, go buy the part. If they all the windows are doing the same thing you may have a switch or wiring problem.

Now, on your door locks, does none of the locks work or just one lock?

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram. The window on the drivers side door fell off its track. I have the door panel, and the plastic off. How do I get to the window, and put the window back on its track?

I had the same problem on my 97 Ram. Take the door panel off, get some liquid nail, squirt just a little into the two clips that hold the glass. Then set the glass back into the clips and run the window up almost to the top so you can still get your fingers on top of the glass. Run it all the way back down again putting a little down pressure on it. Now run it all the way up, put the panel back on and let it sit for a few days before you roll it down again.
You have to run it up and down to make sure the clips are in the proper position, if yours is as loose as mine was it will slide around in the clips pretty easy.

MY 2006 DOdge ram Thunder Road's windows dont work. They used to work i bought the truck new. All of a sudden all the windows from every control dont roll down their own windows as well as the driver side...

your truck also has power relays working with the fuses. each door has its on circuit except the main controller in drivers side door. if u cannot control anything from drivers side then look at the relays for possible cause to your problem.

I can roll the window down with the passenger side switch but to roll it up i have to use the master on the drivers side. it a 2002 dodge ram 2500

I am assuming that the switch from the drivers side will roll the window down and up for all windows, so this is going to be a worn out or defective window switch in the passenger door. These are quite easy to change, and can get the part from the dealer for usually at or around $50.

The armrest cover will pop up where the switch is with a little effort, flip the cover over and remove the plug to the switch. The switch has usually 4 tabs that will need to be pried gently back and the switch housing will release. Install the new switch housing, attach wire plugs, and it's plug and play! This will correct the problem.

Window and lock switches use a small plastic piece that presses down on metal tabs. These plastic parts wear out, or I have even seen them get hot and melt if pressed and held down by kids playing with the window buttons.

Hope this helps, let me know.

2005 Dodge Ram...2 of my windows will not roll down not sure why. just the front driver side and the back passenger side what cld the problem be?

If they don;t roll down by pushing the buttons on driver's door, then i suggest opening the door panels and checking the power on the lines to the power window switch and the motor ( with a volt meter or a 12V light bulb), If you got power on the line to the motor then definitely the problem is with the motor and you might consider changing it. Hope it help, best.

Power windows will not roll down or up

If your other switches don't work, and the master is not locked, you need a new master as it is keeping the others from working.
