I had the same issue on my '01 530i. The window stayed in one place and I could hear the motor going up and down. It took me 30 mins to fix both the Driver's window and the front Pass window. Remove the door panel, then pull back the plastic liner. There are 2 clamps that hold on to the window. You will need to loosen these 2 clamps (that ride on vertical guides), either find the rubber pads (2 per clamp) that wedge between the glass and the clamp. (one on each side of the clamp.) or purchase new ones. Replace these rubberpads, slide the window back into place. Gently snug up the clamps, and carefully raise the window until it seals. This will set its position. Now tighten up the clamps again. Done. One other issue that sometimes occurs is that there is a plastic clip that needs to be replaced that holds the cable to the clamps, but normally only one clip goes at a time and the window will twist and some times break. That doesn't sound like your issue. Good luck.

Sounds like a bad window regulator.

It may be a bad Power Window Switch, if the Power Window Motor goes up and down when you ran power leads to it but doesn't work with the switch, than the switch is bad. Replace the power window switch and it should work fine.

Driver side front window not working - stuck down. took it out - finally, but need to get back in in up position. is there a trick to it?

If you can hear the motor for the window but it doesn't work the regulator is bad. If you can't hear the window motor the motor is bad or the fuse is blown for the power windows. I would start by checking the fuses.

Hi, the reason you hear the motor running but the window wont go back up is because the window regulator is bad. you will need to go to a parts store and get a replacement. you can get a replacement at Advance Auto Parts for $72.99. the part number is 741-766.

Power windows

sounds like the window motor has packed it in on the front... rear window u should lubricate the runners but if that fails the motor will be on its way out too

Front windows don't roll down

Yes, the power window switch is often faulty, because there is some sensitive electronic making that "auto rolled down". The 4x-switch is quite expensive, 260EUR =( So, I make some new connection. The faulty electronic is only for front windows, so now I connect wires so that I can use front windows with read window switch. (Rear windows is still working by those 2xback window switch) which is located between seats. Here is the conncection, at one's own risk. That 4x-window switch has 14-pins connector: Connect the back windows wires 8(blue/white), 9(red/black), 1 (grey/blac ), 2 t(green/white) to the ground wire 4 (black). Front windows wires 14(blue)->8 13(white)->9 3(white/violet)->2 7(black/blue)->1 If the manufacturer didn't use that "auto rolled down" function, there is no worries of power windows. Also illumination of 4x-switch goes down quite soon, leds will be better. Power window not working, motor and electric good, whats wrong?

Well either the gears aunt lined up correctly or the motor old and tired. Doesn't have enough power/torque to spin gears. might just need a new motor.

1999 buick regal. driver window doesnt work and driver rear window won't work but I can hear the motor on back window???

It sounds like the rear window problem is the regulator which is cable driven and the motor attaches too. check and see if your cable is binding up or if the wheels on the track are broken. the front window could be a bad switch or the module you need to test and see if you have power to the front window motor. if you do have power it could also possibly be the motor try to jump power and see if it goes up or down if it does then the motor is good.

My front driver side power window is not working. One Minute it wont roll down but I can hear the motor. Then the next minute it was working fine. now the window is lose and i can move it up & down by...

you have to replace the window regulator reason why is because the cable ripped which would cause the motor to work without moving the window up or down .. regulator is the cable and the rails were the motor makes the woindow move up and down on. you have to replace it.
