Good luck I am having same problem. The Chiltons manual's schematics for 95 cherokees does not match at all. I have been reduced to using a test light to determine what wire is what and wriing it down but for starters the pink with green wire is your constant hot and brown with white stripe wire is your parking lights I and tan double wire lead is your headlights

I have a rare 01 2wd pathfinder I need to know which of the three wires is hot on the headlight harness

Here is a little detective work for you!
First, identify the color of the ground wires, and that should be the same color for nearly all of the electrical things under the hood, but pay particular attention to things like lights.
There will be one wire of that color to every light.
Next you will likely have two wires, one for high beam, one for low beam, and those can be matched. Highs one color, lows another.
None of these wires should be hot with the headlights switched off, except that, during the 2001 automobile era, some cars and trucks had driving lights that were on whenever the car was moving!
God bless your efforts.

You need a wiring chart to find the color code . however there are three wires , earth, low beam , high beam, to find same turn lights to high beam, with a vault meter neg. probe to earth probe each wire the live wire is high beam , dip lights and probe again live wire is low beam , other wire is earth wire.

Dash lights do not work 2000 ford exploier

All go out at once, first check fuses, then dimmer switch for dash lights, finally headlight switch. To check dimmer switch, pull connection off back, on harness with test light and headlight switch activated, 1 of the leads should have power, if so, use ohm meter on dimmer to make sure it has reading between 0 and some value, if no value, open, dimmer is bad, if there wasn't power then check headlight switch, there should be heavier gauge wire that powers switch and 1 for output to hi/lo switch, smaller gauge wires for tail lamps, dash lights, license plate lamps, parking lights. The color wires from dimmer would correspond to the same colored wires on headlamp switch, probe that connection on headlamp switch with switch engaged and see if you have power, if not replace switch, if so, check wire from switch to dimmer. Now if the lights slowly went from bright one day, to less bright some other day, to not working, then the bulbs are bad... good luck...

1994 Lexus LS 400 One headlight is ineffectual dim with yellowish color, replaced bulb, replaced end plug, no effect, what now, please?

The first thing you need to do is check both fuses for the right headlamp. There will be one for the high beam and the low beam. If the fuses are good than we need to check the ground. The ground wire is the red wire with the white tracer. Whith the headlights on use a jumper wire from that wire to the battery ground. If the headlight is know bright than you will need to start tearing into the harness to find out where the wire is bad and/or corroded. It will be somewhere in between the connector and where the wire splices into the ground for the left headlight. Since the left headlight works fine we know that the wiring from that splice to ground is good. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
