My car is a honda accord (uk) 1994. I also own an identical accord 1997. I have had the 1994 car to the dealer for diagnostic check, they claim that the near side rear wheel sensor needs to be replaced. So i swapped the sensor from the 1997 car witch works perfectly well, and took the car for a test run, the light came on again after 1 mile. I have had a look inside the abs computor to see if there was a cracked or broken soldered joint, all appears to be okay. I have also chcked the abs hub for cracks and there are non visible. I have also done a resistance check on both sensors and both gave the same result.d

Re: abs light comes on after driving about 1 mile
You need to check the sections on the abs ring for damage and rust contamination. Thoroughly clean the ring and gaps to make sure tha sensor is getting the correct count per revolution. Also check for play in the bearing which can cause a fluctuation in readings, especialyy if really loose.

ABS failures are common in the Honda Accord and the Honda Odyssey, especially during the 1995-1997 years. You will find that your ABS light will come on intermittently and then go out. Finally, the light will come on and stay on until the system is replaced. Honda has been charging owners about $1500 to replace the modulator and accumulator. Honda maintains that this is not a problem that is widespread. The Honda owners' notes show that the problem usually happens betwee n 50,000 miles and 100,000 miles. There is a buzzing associated with the system failing, too.-------------- try bleeding the ABS brake pump and check. You must bleed the abs pump, then reset the abs computer by removing the ABSB2 fuse.--------------

I am pretty sure that the light comes on when you have approx 1/8 tank left. In my honda, with a 12 gallon tank, that equated out to 1.5 gallons, or approx 45 driving miles on flat land in the city. Of course, you should check your average miles per gallon with your driving style , as well as filling the tank once the light comes on, to see how many gallons are left, and you will have an accurate number!
It is normal for light to lite up at first start and then go out. Sometimes it may stay on a little longer because the sensors on the wheels may be dirty and it take the PCM a little long to find it' circuit. IT is OK.
Hi, The problem is the solonoids inside the modulator are stuck, all you need to do is!!! Clear the code, than drive car while no abs light is on than lock the car a few times on wet road. The will help to free up the solonoids. Do this about 10 times, brake fluid is the only parts needed!!! Call me at 302 529 7888 if you like!!! Dave
