Question about 1992 Mercury Topaz

Short shifting the car was fine just down shifting a little bit rough. put a little bit of lucas transmission treatment in it and it got ROUGH period. it tries to shift when it gets to 20 grad rpms. then it instantly down shifts. it does not do it all the time just after it gets warmed up. does any one know what could cause this to happen??

Engine idle rough when a/c is on


My 2005 Envoy did the same thing and now its fixed. Here is what I did.....I added a bottle of Lucas fuel treatment and drove it for 5 miles to allow the engine computer to adjust. Did you recently disconnect your battery for a period of time 20min or so?

OD light blinking....but not shifting rough yet


Put some Lucas Transmission treatment in it, the stuff is great the cost is about $9.

When truck is cold for the first 20 sec it runs rough and after it smooths out and once it is warm the idle goes up and down and wile going down road the tac moves up and down about 75 rpm there is anew...


My truck does the sme thing I have been putting lucas oil treatment in it with oil changes and it prevents the rough running when first cranked.

try servicing the trany and putting in some lucas transmission treatment. sounds like the tcc is sticking and needs some lucas to clean it and lube it up.

try some transmedic .put a little in tranny .try to take out some fluid add it in dont over fill transmission .put about a half of bottle in it. it wiil loosen those stuck shift valves.

Car troouble


Hi, I checked the transmission fluid level.  It is a bit high.  Read an article on web, it says high trans fluid level may cause transmission malfunction.  My technician took some fluid out to lower the level.  Not sure it will fix the problem yet.  Will let you know.
Do you think high trans fluid level may cause the problem I experienced?
