Question about 2001 Toyota Corolla
I have a 2001 toyota carolla sport and the hood cable broke off inside the hood. I have tried to find the end of it and can't find it. I have also tried to remove the front grill, no luck. Is there a way I can open it without paying a garage to open it for me. Because I am a woman they want to charge me 300.00 for the job and that is the minimum. I bought the toyota repair book but it only has a pic of the thing, nothing on how to open it or even how to install a new one. Anything you can suggest would be helpful thanks. Lucie Ottawa ON
I had a the same problem on my 1997 Toyota Corolla. Yours is a little different, but it should have the same basic idea to it. I had to remove the three bolts holding on the hood latch using a socket wrench. I had to remove the toyota emblem out of the front grill in order to be able to access them and loosen them. The hood latch is also attached to the grill by a seperate screw, and I just ended up breaking this piece off, which you can't see from the outside of the car anyway. Then you can easily lift up your hood, remove the latch, and reattach it to the car with the hood up and a new cable attached!
Hope this helps!

TRY TO REMOVE THE RADIATOR GRILL, MAYBE YOU CAN ALREADY SEE THE METAL THAT CAN UNLOCKED THE HOOD.
