One temporary solution that worked for me is to hammer the key cylinder. Remove the key first and one or two blows preferably with a mallet will do the trick.

In you are in cold weather, key cylinder could be frozen. Not much you can do till warmer weather.

The key cylinder may be stuck. You approved lubricant to loosen to lock mechanism. Spary lubricant on key and work it back and forth in the cylinder.

If you have AAA Auto Service, have a locksmith come out for free to diagnose. If you don't have a friend with the AAA service call as a passenger to have the locksmith come out for free to diagnose.

Problem with 1999 Chrysler 300M My Chrysler 300m

If the engine doesn't turn over, it may be the solenoid not operating and not engaging the dog on the starter motor, if you get a healthy clunk when you turn the key but the engine does not turn, could be seized or there could be a transmission lock issue.

Unlock Instructions ignition for Chrysler 300M

This happened with my 2000 Ford Focus. To Unlock the ignition, put the car key in, and hit it gently with a hammer. The ignition tumbler will lock again when you take out the key, so have a hammer handy if you go somewhere :P.It happened to me on November 7th, the tow truck driver came, did this, and started the with no problems.

Where is the security system fuse located for a 1999 chrysler 300M security system is not letting us start the car

You might have a bad PCM. A trip to the dealer would figure this out. Are you using original keys or copies? You'll need original keys with the chip inside so the SKIM recognizes the key and starts the car. If the car started, then shut off after a few seconds, this is most likely your problem. If if just doesn't crank or start at all, you may have another problem.

get a starting and charging system diagnostic. I am the owner of a 99 300M and I had a similar problem. It took about 3 months before my car would not start at all. But sometimes, I would get this clicking when turning the key in the ignition. It turned out to be a short in the starter. The starter and the alternator had to be replaced.
