I think this is an interference head,,so yes a valve could be bent.
do not try to start this engine with the starter motor,,if you want to check for damage, take all of the spark plugs out, and then turn the engine over by hand, if it stops and feels like its coming up against an obstruction, this will probably be the valve.
Sometimes its just easier to remove the cylinder head and inspect the valves and pistons then.

Does the dATSUN H 20 engine bend valves if the chain breaks, it was found in the forklifts of the 1980's

I'm not positive but I don't think any engine with a timing chain rather than a timing belt will bend valves if the chain breaks.

2000 saturn ls time chain replacement

What exactly do you need to know about replacing the timing chain? Also you should note that the L200 (4 cyl) has a timing chain. The L300 (V-6) has a timing belt.

Another thing to note is that both of these are interference engines. If your timing chain (or belt) has failed and the engine will not start, the valves are likely bent and you may have damaged the pistons as well.

My 4.7ltr has low compression in cylinder

if its one cylinder then it could be piston damage, valve damage, camshaft lobe damage for this cylinder, rocker has come off. if its on all cylinders it could be a jumped timing chain caused by something damaged in the timing chain components which could possibly bend the valves.

Just got a 2000 s type with timing chains removed. it is a 4.0 with 93k. are timing chains com. to go? also what could a back yard mac. do to really mess this engine up, seller said it could have bus

i think they bend valves when they blow the chain not only that they would have fixed it blow air into the cylinders and see if air blows out

I just wanted to know if this model has a timing belt or timing chain.

Timing belt on this vehicle. Replace at 120K miles. You may bend a valve if the belt breaks on you. Very expensive then.

Is it a timing belt on olds intrigue 2000, 3,5L?

this engine uses a timing chain, chains require no replacement unless the engine is being repaired or the chain or spockets fail

2oo2 cavalier timing chain broke need to know how to fix it??

With a new motor most likley. When a timing chains break pistons tend to collide with valves which can punch holes in the pistons or bend/ break valves. Usually at this point it is more economical to replace the engine than to actually fix it.

Why are exhaust valves bending on 97 s-10 blazer. The valves are not sticking. Could I have a timing chain issue? Hard to believe because the motor runs so good until the valves bend. You can see the mark...

bent valves can be from timing belt stretch but would have been running very rough and would have had to be replaced others are bad valve springs- rocker arms not adjusted right- valve sticking-push rods sticking-camshaft walking- oil pressure problems

you kinda destroyed it. you need specialty tools, a good manual, and new parts. You don't do this right the first time, you bend valves, period.
