Bad motor. i don't think so. maybe check compression level

did you try jump cables start? off a running donor car, AAA style>?

and had to disconn? what does that mean and what was results? if any.

ahhh, to fix the stuck on blinkers? i get it.

which engine?

the engine type dictates what wiring car has. (partly)

fix the stuck blinkers first. this implies, either ignition switch failure

or gross wiring errors, hacks gone wrong.

the key swtich does turn off blinker power feed.

2001 Dakota wont start. Died at a red light and would not start back up. Check for trouble codes but had none.

You don't say what size engine you have, but the two most likely candidates for imminent failure would be the crankshaft sensor or the fuel pump. If you have fuel pressure at the rail, then I'd replace the crank sensor fist, as they are common failure items.

I have a 2000 dodge durango that wont start. I changed the crank shaft senser and the cam shaft position senser and the cap and rotor button but still wont start

Have you checked for your DTC code?? The code may help you address the issue that is keeping your engine from starting.


1. Cycle the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds. To cycle the ignition key ON means to turn it only as far as it takes to get the radio to come on. It does not mean to turn the engine on.

2. Count the number of times the "check engine" lamp on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual codes. For example, flash-flash-flash [pause] flash-flash represents the code 32.

A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If this is all you get then no error codes are stored in the computer. This is the normal condition for a neon.

Freelander 1.8 started reversed off the drive, cut out and now wont start.

check for timing belt failure by removing black plastic engine cover on side. if ok and tight check crankshaft sensor these are a common failure.. hope this helps

Replaced intake manifold gasket now the car wont start

If engine hydrolocked from coolant entering the engine from the gasket failure it may have damaged the engine to where it will not start until further repairs.

Operation of the braking system and the engine are two (2) different issues. I'd suggest checking the level and condition of your engine oil to see if it's adequate or burnt. You may also need to check to see if you have experienced a failure of your timing belt. The condition of the timing belt deteriorates with age and mileage, and usually needs to be replaced at bout 90-110,000 miles. Failure of the timing belt can cause a major engine failure (which may or may not be repairable). The braking systen depends upon proper operation of the master cylinder which operates effectively only when the engine runs properly. You should check the fluid level in you resevoir on the master cylinder. The fluid should almost completely fill the resevoir and should be clear (although it may have a yellow tint). The braking system will not prevent the engine from starting, so it's best to start with the engine. Check condition of the battery. Any battery over 6 years old should likely be changed (but not until you know the engine hasn't been damaged). Jump the car from another vehicle or large battery charger. Listen to hear if the starter has engaged (a grinding sound). Then see if the engine cranks.

Tough to diagnose at a distance without knowing what maintenance has already been performed and how many miles are on the vehicle. If you are not mechanically inclined, this may be a good time to find a friend who is and/or a reputable mechanic.

Wont start

This engine has a bad design flaw in that the timing chain does not get any oil. Pretty much there are two types of failures. Failure around 20,000 miles and failure around 78,000 miles. All the engines they made for a few years had this flaw and no other engine will fit in this car. If you have to replace the engine with a used engine you can almost count on a failure again around these mileages. My timing chain failed at highway speeds pretty much wrecking the engine. If yours failed in the driveway you may be lucky enought to just replace the timing chain and maybe the head. I would get rid of this car if you get it running again. Give it back to the lousy saturn dealer. I hear they are buying a ton of used vehicles since GM is probably going to stop making new Saturns. Oh, also, I beleive the 2001 model is under recall so have the dealer fix it!
