My Almera demister switch does not stay in when pressed and the garage says it needs replacing at a high cost - part £125 + vat then labour charge. This is the reversing light switch. For $18 it is worth swapping out for a new one, but my feeling is that is something inside the transmission that is not in the right place that actuates it. Hopefully, you might even find it has come loose.
run the fault codes and look for cam/crank position sensors.
faulty or loose connections may cause this fault. If you have more than 1 key in the ignition then it has been known that the mass of swinging keys will switch off the ignition
(current recall on all GMC ignition switches for just this reason)
Check the brake light function. If the lights work then replace the shift lock solenoid. If they don't work then replace the brake light switch and retry.
you know those little brown lines on the inside of your rear window, they are wires and can get damaged when cleaning your window. get an OHMS meter and you can actually test the lines on your glass and find the damaged sectors, you can get repair kits to do repairs
hi i am not 100% sure but i think it is the P11 144 gearbox its used with the almera qg15de engine. i think it is also used in a primera and almera tino of the same years.
