I know I have to loosen the idler, but how do I do it?
Ken
The idler pulley is spring loaded. With the correct size socket and ratchet and a strong arm just pivot it away momentarily from the belt enough to pull the belt loose. You don't actually remove the pulley. Just like taking a dead mouse out of the old spring traps. If you are getting some pulley noise, you can replace the pulley only (one bolt)
pour water on the pulley to see if noise changes, its an easy way to track down belt, pulley noises.
