Question about 2002 BMW 5 Series

1 Answer

Ventilation fan intermittent, then no aircon function

2005 BMW 525 apparently has an electronic circuit to select the speed of the interior ventilation fan. Now hardly ever works, previously intermittent. I am a retired Electronics engineer but tracing the wiring from control to dashboard to fan motor to under loor mounted resistor seems to be a major task. Any history or circuit diagram would be a great help. Its our summer now which makes this rather urgent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My mazda 6 v6 2004 smell oil when starting ventilation

The smell is typical of older Mazda aircon.
Purchase an aircon cleaning spray which is discharged into the aircon system by selecting recirc , cloing the windows for 5 minutes . This cleanses the system which is probably contaminated with bacteria.
Recharging your air con will help as well. The smell is due to evaporate condensed water mixed with sludge and bacteria .

Under the hood, passenger side. at the fire wall you will find a small cover 2" x8" approx. This is where they hide the cabin air filter.

Vibration noise from cabin ventilation fan

Pull the fan motor and look for debris. Sounds like a balance issue. Test the unit on a bench. If cleaning will not resolve, replace the unit.

Radio, aircon and heater not working

The radio has it's own fuse (circuit) so it has no relation with the ventilation. The AC and heating uses one blower motor to regulate interior temperature. It uses a balast resistor located under the blower motor housing just below the glove compartment.
