Question about 1996 Dodge Ram
When it gets down to a quarter of a tank it runs rough like it's running out of gas and the check engine light blinks, then stays on. Trash in the gas tank or bad fuel pump?
It could be a very not noticeable leak in the fuel line or the fuel pump could be picking up trash. Also your gas tank makes a small amount of condensation which may be picked up through the pump which could choke out the motor of gas. The best thing to do is to take all of the gas out of the tank and check for rust if its a metal gas tank. Also if there is water from the condensation in the gas, I would not run the gas that you take out of it.

Probably a leak in the flexible line that connects the pump to the metal line. Or the pump itself.
