Thumping sound in rear of 2006 Hyundai Sonata when going at very slow speed (even driving in reverse) and going slowly over bumps. Originally was sporatic, but is constant now. have put in new shock mount brackets and shocks, but that did nothing to alleviate the thumping.
Have you had this listened to or driven by a front end repair person, they are very good at noises, i think this is a worn part that causes this, just can't remember which one, the dealer is your best choice here.
We had an alignment done, replaced shocks and shock mount brackets...but still continues to thump. Took it to dealership and they said they haven't heard of any Sonata's having this problem. We found that hard to believe since the internet is full of posted complaints about 2006 Hyundai Sonatas having rear-end thumping noises at slow speeds and when rolling over bumps. It seems no one knows what it is.
I have no information on this problem. I can't hear it so I can't say what it might be.

Research revealed no available illustration of procedure. If memory serves, there are two 'access' plates on either side of the lamp assy (popped out with small screwdriver) and two phillps screws retaining the assy in place. Remove the access plates (plastic) and the screws behind them.. access is gained.

Most definately your tire. Out of round and or balance or tire defects cannot usually be detected visually. I would take it to a reputable tire store for inspection. Could be a bent or warped rim if you have run over a curb or through a big pothole, etc. They should be able to tell you if one or the other is defective.

Sounds like a CV joint is wearing out.
I'd check both inner and outter boots on the right side since thats where the clicking is.
While CV joints can be replaced individually...usually you end up changing the drive shaft with both boots as an assembly.
Hope this helps...
