Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

Knocking Engine I have a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo. It has 136,000 miles and the engine knocks. It sounds like the Fan is hitting something but I checked that and it clears everything. When driving the knocking stops above 1700 rpm. If anyone has had a problem like this and could possibly help me out send me an email.

Sorry you did finish you sentence. Grab the fan blade (engine off of course) and see if you can move it back and forth. A lot of play may be a bad and knocking fan clutch. Or a worn out water pump. Move it if you can and see where the play is coming from.

I just bought an 04 isuzu rodeo with only 75000 miles it seems to run rough and makes a knocking noise and shakes and no the chk engine light is on what do you suggest I do

First thing I would check is timing then plugs and wires. With electronic ignitions, even bad plugs and wires can cause rough running and pinging and knocking, backfire and such.

Engine knocking noise

I currently own a 2003 isuzu rodeo that i purchased new in 2003 i recently changed the oil and was driving and heard a loud knocking / banging noise . I immediately pulled over and shut it off ,popped the hood and checked the oil only to find out i had plenty of oil. i asked a mechanic he told me to replace the oil pump and i did , but it still makes the same noise. it only has 80,000 miles what else could be wrong?

1995 Ford Windstar Engine Knocking at startup. Driven 2800 miles since last oil/filter change. Oil level SAT, Coolant level SAT and no visible leakage. Engine completely rebuilt 2 years ago. Engine has...

No if the oil light has flickered you have oil pressure loss some time just belive the sensor do help us out. lifter do not cause oil pressure loss pressure is built in the rotation of the crankshaft. The knock under the plenum will point you to that cylinder that is affected, (main bearing) as for a 1995 the injectors can only cause a misfire but no knocking noise, will they honor the warranty

Had the engine replaced three weeks ago, and now, there is a minor knocking sound coming form the engine.

Sounds like your Rodeo was taken to the circus. No warranty on that new motor? I need to know where the sound is coming from. Top, bottom, front rear or what. Is it a tapping or hard loud knocking??? Let me know and I will try to help you out. Raz

I have a 95 Isuzu rodeo. The engine makes a loud, almost diesel engine noise. When I am accelerating, the noise seems to go away. When I was shopping for this vehicle, I saw many ads that said their's make...

ATTENTION!! Do not run the engine if you do not want to have to buy an engine!! I just solved this problem with my own 95 Rodeo the problem you are having is common on 95 rodeo with 3.2 L engine. Failure of the hydralic timing belt tensioner will allow the tensioner pulley to knock against the top of the tensioner unit ( inside timing cover lower left side of crank pulley little cylinder looking part ) held in by 2 bolts when you take it off if you can depress the button its bad . Dealer has part for $110.00, so go to auto zone but they dont have it listed for 95 rodeo have them look up timing belt tensioner for 95 honda passport $76.95 takes 2 days VDO (Vendor Order only) not a very hard job have fun dont forget to change the timing belt and water pump for good measure after the complete job is done you should not have to worry about it for another 70,000 miles.have a good day

My 96 Isuzu Rodeo does not indicate that it is overheating but the hoses connecting to the radiator swell up and look like they are ready to pop. Now, there is a really loud noise like a metal fan hitting...

sounds like you might have a head or head gasket problem, combustion pressure leaking into radiator/cooling system causing pressure build up (hose swelling) the noise could also be from this failure.
get engine warm so hoses swell, turn off engine remove spark plugs leave radiator cap on and pressure from cooling system as is(hoses swollen) wait 5-10 minutes crank over engine with plugs removed and keep clear of spark plug holes, put paper in front of spark plug holes if water comes out of spark plug hole or slight wetting of paper with water head or head gasket is at fault.

I changed oil in my 2001 izuzu rodeo and after it makes loud skreeching and knocking what could it be

Changing the oil is simple procedure.
it more sound like you left some thing close to a moving part.
Check over the engine very carefully. Around the belt area, by the fan.

Try to pin point the noise and add more information. Then I will try to gave you a better answer.
