Your vehicle is not equipped with a fuel filter. The filter is a mesh screen that is attached to the fuel pump module inside the fuel tank, and is not a serviceable part, unless the filter or pump is defective. It is rare to have the screen on the module to become clogged or to need replacing.
For 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD
5.2L MFI 8cylthe Fuel Filter is part of the fuel pressure regulator
assembly which is located on the fuel pump module.
The fuel pump module is located on top of the fuel
tank.
Its possible that you are interesting in check the service manual ZJ-Secc-14-Fuel-System
can you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn key?(have an assitant turn key and listen for a buzz near the fuel tank) i think you have to take the fuel tank out to fix it.
Did you check the ignition system for spark? The fuel pump is in the gas tank. There should be a test port on your fuel rail that looks like a tire valve with a cap on it. Have someone crank the car while you depress the schrader valve and see if you get fuel. Do that first then get back to me.
try the fuel filter and make sure you have proper oil pressure!! Remeber if you have tried craking to many bad times then the plugs are going to be fouled out!! Means that they are going to be drowned with gas and need replacing!! Also make sure your fuel pump is coming on!! You should hear a hissin or a hummin noise back from the fuel tank!
