If you have the ALDL connector it will be under the dash on the drivers side. I am not so sure VW used this connection. If you do have it though you can jump out the 2 terminals on the right upper side of the connector to pull up trouble codes. Count the check engine light flashes for the codes.  flash----flashflash is 12 and flashflash------flashflashflash is 23 watch it close so you don't miss a flash!!!

HOW TO GET MY 1994 JETTA OBD1 CONNECTOR TO READ FAULT CODE

Ok, there may be 2 issues here. 1, are you sure your vehicle uses the OBD1 and not OBD2? 2, Ebay sells specific OBD connectors for certain "special" vehicles that handle the OBD codes different than normal. Like the Ford Focus. As an example.

What code scanner is needed for a 1994 olds cutlass supreme 3.1?

1994-1995 was a transition year for car makers with the OBD system.
You can do an internet search for each style plug and see which one you have. The scanner will not connect to the wrong plug.
The OBD2 style is tapered on each side. The plug is under the steering column.

Where is the OBD 2 ECU plug on a 1994 Honda Civic Ex

should be located about 1" from the end of the dash, on the passenger's side. It's a 2P connector, which you jump with a paper clip, and is up under the edge of the dash. The Data Link Connector (3P) and the Service Check Connector (2P) are both housed in a protective rubber mount. Carefully, pry the Service Check Connector free.

Jump the connector, turn the ignition ON, and count the number of long and short flashes, if any, of the Check Engine Light. Yes, you have an OBD-I emission control system. good-day ! 96 on up vehicles are OBD-II,

I have a 1995 olds 88 that is pre OBD2 but it has the OBD2 connector. It will not allow me to retrive codes???

The 1995 Olds 88 has an obd 2 plug, but is an obd 1 system. Some people call it obd 1.5
There is no option to jump 2 contacts to flash the codes on the check engine light in these cars.
You will either need a compatible scan tool, or a cable to hook to a laptop and the software to pull the codes. (check out www.aldlcable.com)
One such scan tool is the Actron CP9185. It has the extra data pin for the 8192 baud communication with the computer in these cars. (pin 9 on the OBD 2 connector)
