Replace spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter then recharge your battery and try to start it again.

SOURCE: start the car let it warm up drive around for 10

First place I'd look is the mass air flow sensor: remove and clean with a Qtip and carb cleaner. Its a bit delicate so be nice to it. After that, check idle air control to see if it's working properly. Of course, change filters (that's proper maintenence that should be done even when working properly) If after doing this stuff you still have a problem, get a manual and even if you can't access codes, there are specific tests you can do using a decent volt/ohmeter.
I think you got me going in the wrong direction with the trans thing. So, if it's shifting properly while going down the road, leave it alone for now.

Sounds like a faulty sensor. Have you changed your fuel filter? Checked all vacuum lines? Any check engine light on?

I'm thinking you may have a bad starter. Have someone try to start it and at that time hit the starter on the side hard with a hammer. DO NOT HIT THE SOLENOID IT WILL BRAKE
