My Remote door lock/unlock works intermttently. It works fine for 2-3 weeks & then just stops for a week or 2 & then all of a sudden - it works! I don't know what triggers it to stop working & then start again - there must be something I'm doing that triggers this. Help?!?

You may have to have the remotes recoded at the dealer. My remotes to my Jag don't work either. But hey the parts falling off my Jag ARE of the finest British make. LOL I really love my Jag. Call the dealer and see if they can't recode the remotes for you.

Jaguar x-type 2.5 se problem with remote central locking

Do you smoke in the car? could be that the infra red sensor in the car (usually near the interior mirror) needs cleaning. I bought a Renault Scenic which had same problem, it would only unlock from very close to the car. After trying new battery in the remote I cleaned the sensor and never had any more problems. PS I assume you've tried a new remote battery?

The remote will either pry apart or will unscrew (eyeglass repair kit tools) so you can access the battery compartment. Be really gentle once you find out which so you don't damage the device. The key fob will retain the original code because the code is hard programmed. NOTE: when you replace the battery (hearing aid type) don't touch the face because skin oils will contaminate the battery. Good Luck!!!
