Question about 2004 Suzuki XL-7
My XL 7 loses power at around 3000 rpm. It cuts out for a fraction of a second and is an intermittent problem. Some days it drives fine and some days it surges and cuts out constantly under acceleration.
SOURCE: no power when accelerating
Once you rule out some kind of ignition problems,; spark plugs and wires, ignition timing, distrib. cap & rotor, the cause may be low fuel pressure from a failing pump or clogged filter. Listen to the pump in the gas tank. If its been getting louder lately, have the pressure tested.

Poor fuel consumption can be caused by a few things. One being the O2 sensor. You should also check your spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and try to find out whens the last time the vehicle had a tune up. Check your tires and make sure they are properly inflated as underinflated tires can make the engine work harder and consume more fuel. A little preventive maintanence goes a long way. Check engine light usually means the computer has detected a problem with the emission control for your vehicle. Have that checked ASAP because the longer you drive with the light on the greater the chances of permanent damage to the ECS.
