The dist and injectors work on a 12 volt feed.....the 5 volt feed comes from the powertrain control module but it is possible that one of the sensors are grounding it out. until it acts up again it will be hard to locate. are you sure the 5 volt feed wasnt there. it may just be a bad crank sensor or dist pickup plate causing the no start

How to replace a crank case sensor on 1996 nissan pathfinder?

Crank case sensor? Sorry, I don't think I've ever heard of one. Crank position sensor? (Prob top of the bell housing directly behind the cylinder head, 10 mm headed bolt holds the shield and the sensor in place, but is only used when trouble shooting misfires.)

Placed cam and crank sensor, but car wont start, turns over but no spark. 1996 dodge stratus, where should I look next?

If you have injection pulse but no spark, your distributer could be bad. Or if your car has coils they could be bad. One or the other. I am assuming you have fuel pressure.

I would be thinking that there is a good chance that you need to be checking out replacing the computer, if you aren't getting any communication with the proper scan tool then the computer isn't communicating with anything in the vehicle...... I would have guessed first off that the ignition control module might be bad but that is obviously part of the computer also, I would be looking in that direction.

1996 jeep grand chrokee turns over will not start, replaced cam shaft censor and ECM, and coil. distibuter cap looks bad has some white dust inside and contacts burnt. could it be that?

If you did not replace the CRANK sensor on the back side of the motor this most likely is the problem and a very common one at that.this controls spark and injector pulse, unlike the cam sensor which just shows when #1 cilyder is up.

5 volts is correct. Those sensors work off of a 5 volt reference signal.
