Question about 1999 Lexus SC
No,not "into"red,but close to it.
if it goes to red,you might have a failing thermostat.
let me xplain.
-a failing thermostat will either make your motor run too hot,or too cold,(the temp you see on your dash is for the motor)
NOW,you also have a temp sensor for the radiator fan,which is on the radiator.
SO,if the motor thermostat isnt opening,the rad' isnt getting the hot water(to cool off),in turn,the fan will come on later!!(hotter)
in conclusion,replace the engine thermostat,(it's cheap$$)
