2001gmc sierra 1500HD have a loud humming noise

My 2001 GMC sierra 1500HD have a loud humming noise comming from the front left side. When at 70 miles p/hr it will almost go away but at lower speed is very loud.

What could be the problem?

Check your wheel bearing at high speed they will make little. jack up the truck grab the tire on the top and bottom and see if you can move it back and forth if so , good chance bearing is bad

If you look at the master cylinder under the hood on the drivers side,you should see an aluminum box near the brake reservoir,that is the controller that you need to deal with.

If you have recently bought new tires and the size is larger or smaller than the stock tire size, it will throw off the ABS as the computer thinks the tire is not running at the correct programmed rpm in relation to the overall truck speed. Check with a local tire shop to have it checked.

Gmc 1500 sierra windshield rattles at 60mph or more not really sure


If you have a bug shield this is what is probably making it sound like the windshield.Try removing it and then see if the noise is still there.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Front Driver Side


If the noise changes when you turn side to side while driving you have bad wheel bearing. (Hub Assy)
