1999 Sedan Deville Door Lock Malfunction

Awhile back the electric door locks began malfunctioning. Specifically, one cannot lock the doors electrically from inside the vehicle. The doors will unlock electrically. This malfunction occurs no matter which of the four door-locking switches is used. The doors will lock properly when using the remote control device. I have tried reprogramming the lock/unlock features such as light flash on unlock, etc. Have also tried disconnecting & reconnecting the battery. None of these correct the problem.

SOURCE: passenger electric door lock not working on '94 sedan de ville

what it sounds like to me is ,a rod or linkage that attaches from the electrical solenoid to the lock mechanism has came apart, see these rods and linkage are held by thin metal and sometime plastic clips and they can brake and crack at any given time! u need to remove the door panel and sound barrier and inspect all the mechanism.when u remove the panel lift/pry the window up and dn button panel out of the arm rest and u will see a phlip screw head, this has to be removed before u try to remove the door panel, when the screw is removed, grab the door panel with one hand by the bottom and the top by the window with the other and give it a quick **** straight up, their may be a pop in fastener at the lower left hand corner of the panel, so u may have to pop it out first, then **** it up, u will see plastic fingers around the panel that set in the door to hold it in, be careful not to brake them off, now u can move the panel out of the way enough to do what needs to be done and not have to disconnect any electrical plugs,(hopfully).hope this helps, just take your time and u should have no problem, and save some $. good luck to u..

SOURCE: 2001 Cadillac Deville driver door key entry not turning to unlock

I am having the smae problem starting this week. Key fob has been broken for several months (and on a 2001 Cadillac you HAVE to go to dealer to program a new one.) So I've been using the key-- no problem.
FIrst thing others need to understand. The 2001 Deville has a key entry on the Driver's door ONLY-- not any other door. So you can't just go to anotger door.
Secondly-- I am trying my 'main' key, which admittedly has some wear. But I am also trying my "spare" key which has practically no wear at all-- so this is not an issue of a worn-out key. Both have worked fine in the past.

What happens is that the door lock all of a sudden will not let the key go all the way into the lock. YOu can feel it being stopped for the last 1/8 of an inch or so-- just enough so you can't turn the key in the door lock. Seems like some kind of messed up security feature. But all I know is I cannot get into my car, parked in my garage!

What causes a malfunction in power locks?

The power door locks are controlled by the BCM -body control module ! The door lock switch is an input to the BCM .
The BCM, upon receipt of a door lock switch lock or unlock signal, will switch the appropriate door lock actuator control circuits to battery positive voltage. The opposing side of the door lock actuators are connected to ground internally within the BCM through the other door lock actuator control circuit and the doors will lock or unlock appropriately.
First thing to do would be check power an ground circuits at the BCM ! Do you have any other systems not working -power windows etc...
The DR/LCK fuse supplies battery positive voltage to the I/P fuse block for the door lock system. The body control module (BCM) supplies and monitors a reference voltage to the door lock switch through the door lock switch lock/unlock signal circuit. The door lock switch also receives a constant ground source. If a door lock switch is placed in the lock position or unlock position, the reference voltage is taken directly to ground and the BCM detects the voltage drop on the signal circuit.
Should have BCM checked for stored DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes !
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Door Lock Sw, Psgr Door Lock Sw, Driver Door Unlock Sw and Psgr Door Unlock Sw parameters while using the driver and passenger door lock switches. The parameters should change between Active and Inactive.
?‡'
If the values does not change between the commanded states, refer to Door Lock Switch Malfunction.

Command the driver door and passenger door lock actuators to LOCK and UNLOCK with the scan tool, the doors should LOCK and UNLOCK when changing between commanded states.
?‡'
If a door lock actuator does not perform the LOCK and UNLOCK functions, refer to Door Lock Malfunction

Door locks stuck

if all of the other door locks work its mostlikely a broken wire or the door lock acctuator is bad you can check this by taking the door pannel off and checking for power at the door lock acctuator if you have power then replace the accuator

Drivers side door lock will not release and allow door to close.

OK First I think you have a typical lock/latch failure situation, you must hold the door release handle open while pying the latch hook to the open(able to recieve door catch rod mounted on the inside door post) once you pull it back the door should work fine if this continues to happen the door latch assembly needs to be replaced(those big philip head retaining screws are installed with a special tool to secure the door latch from coming loose so be aware its not easy to remove)

NEXT IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR DOOR:

Inside the door is a door lock electrical solenoid.... when these solonoids malfunction they will do exactly what you are describing.... to access this you must remove the door panel and all tah is connected to it.....raise the window all the way up....with a light locate the lock soleniod....very carefully remove the part, be sure you have the replacement handy in order to identify the part.

Electric door lock not working

Any of these three causes may apply to your situation of your driver's rear door not power locking, specifically the malfunctioning of the 1) relay system, 2) switch motor, or 3) the switch/button itself. Here's a handy diagnostic article that explains this:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Locks_Power_Locks_Do_Not_Lock_When_Pressing_Locking_Switch_Button.htm

This should lead you to the correction of your door's failure to lock.

99 Sienna pwr door lock failure

Sounds electrical/relay to me if you cannot lock by pressing the lock button on the door itself. Driver and passenger acting the same AND the remote all the same result point to only one culprit.
Let me know how it goes and best of luck!
