Check under car on fuel tank for a good ground it is usually the area the grounding wire connects to. You may have to clean the connection with sand paper to create a contact. it is usually found on top of gas tank. you may have to drop tank to see connection.
You may experience a misfire if your car is noisy on gas,and is shaking on accelaration .
you might have to check on the injection system :injectors and injector wires. also a dirty MAF and a bad spark plug may cause it .
you may wanna get the code from a OBD2 device to know where the malfunction is .
good luck !
The most common failed start is ignition spark, usually forgot to hook it up, this is controlled by the ignition module and the crank sensor, second most common is fuel. Has your mechanic fixed it yet? if not check the three basics- air-fuel-fire, one them is missing.
may i ask? when you jump start from doner car battery?? do you connect battery to battery with leads? reason for querie is the correct method is=connect leads to doner terminals on battery then on your car connect +LEAD TO YOUR BATTERY BUT THE NEGATIVE LEAD TO THE ENGINE ENSURE GOOD CONTACT ? if engine starts then ? you will have to check the earth lead from battery to engine connection it may be loose or deteriated ? doing the above test you are using doner battery power SO to check your cars battery ?and whether it is an earth connection fault? just connect 1xjump lead from your cars neg terminal on battery and the other end to the engine providing a good suplimentary earth to enable starter to function properly due to its high amps load needed if it works? check as explained above ? please update back on progress if any? good luck
Ok, my contour is actually a 2000... it was sold in 2001, heh, anyway, so I took it in today to be looked at and it turns out my front motor mount bolts are sheered. So basically it's totally loose and making the whole car shake because of it. So they quoted me $300 for it, but I think I'm going to give ford a call and see if they can fix it for free? It seems like it's a extremely common problem among ford coutours and other fords, so I mean, it's a defect yes? I'll get back to you after seeing how that goes, but it's worth a shot right? I mean, they make a defective mount, they need to replace it.
