Question about 1999 GMC Jimmy

1999 Jimmy $x4 problems??

Thje light has came about Service 4X4 soon. Bsttery died and replaced the battery and It started and drove. Came home (in 4x4) hit the button for 2 wheel but nothing lit up? Now the truck starts but doesn't go into any gear. Trany has never slipped. Never any tranny problems except 4X4 light. Now when I put into park it makes a winding down sound. But will not move. What can be the problem?? Please let me know what is going on...thankx u for reading.....

Have the transmission checked out, it sounds like its stuck between gears on the 4x4

You may potentially have an serious electrical drain in your car circuits. The drain is slow and continuous, draining your battery charge even if you do a start. Check the cabling and look for load on your battery with a Volt meter to check for any charge drainage. Check this as a precaution before replacing any more parts.

Sounds like a bad ground. When it wont start run a jumper cable from the negative side of the battery to a good ground on the motor and try the body also. Rule that out first.

hello, it sounds like the alternator is the problem, most auto parts stores can check the alternator/charging system at no charge without removing it from the truck, I'm sure you will find that the alternator needs to be replaced.
