Or, Autozone, AdvanceAuto, NADA, or CarQuest for online Mitchell's
or the Haynes books, that have schematics.

Also, on the online Ford Forums, there are schematics.

I have a 85 ford f250 with the 351. the truck starts fine, but dies after a while. so I pulled the battery wire while it was running and the thing died. so I replaced the alternator. that did not solve the...


First off you don`t want to disconnect the battery when the engine is running as that will damage the alternator.Ford had a problem with the electonic module on some of engines in 85.good luck

NEED TO KNOW WHAT ARE THE TORQUE SPEC N A F250 2001 GAS ENINGE FOR THE ROD BEARINGS AND MAINS BEARINGS 5.4

  1. Install the main bearing cap bolts and the cross-mounted main bearing cap bolts.
  1. Tighten all of the main bearing cap bolts in two stages.

    Stage 1: Tighten the vertical fasteners 1 through 10 to 37-43 Nm (27-32 lb/ft). Rotate fasteners 1 through 10, 85-95 degrees.

    Stage 2: Tighten the cross-mounted fasteners 11 through 20 to 27-33 Nm (20-24 lb/ft). Rotate fasteners 11 through 20, 85-95 degrees.

Tighten the connecting rod bolts in two stages, using the sequence shown.

Stage 1: 40-45 Nm (30-33 lb/ft)

Stage 2: Rotate 90-120 degrees

I bought an old 85 F250 I am puting in an engin out of a 82 model pickup but the distributer is different do you hav a solution this is an old farm truck that never goes on the road can I run a hot wire...


Use the distributor and electronic controls from the '85 engine on the '82 engine, unless these engines are not the same size?? Let Me know

Vacuum pump wiring


I have 84 & 85 Ford F250 4X4 w/ 6.9 diesel and they use a belt driven vacuum mounted below the alternator driven by a short belt from the alternator.

Have never seen an OEM electric vacuum pump on any Ford F250 w/ 6.9 diesel and early 7.3 non powerstroke.

This must be an after market unit, so look for marking or ID on it to find who made it.

Best guess on wiring, unit may be 2 speed, with black being common or ground and red for power.
