Im not a transmission expert, but you can visit and sign up there. A member on those forums that goes by Trannyman95 is a rebuilder of the 4T65E transmission that your car has and should be able to shed some light on what is going on. He is a super nice guy.

What can cuse my 2000 blazer to shift hard than drive fine

My 97 ford taurus transmission shifts fine but it will not go in to the over drive and the o,d light blinks off and on what do I do?

The OD light flashing is usually a sign the TC is overheating. I know it will come on when the ATX fluid hits 300F.

Coasting in neutral will cook a TC if done for very long. This is because the TC is spinning at a relatively higher engine speed but the tranny pump is not putting out enough fluid to keep it cool.

A locked TC is always better for the tranny and full power output. An unlocked TC is wasting energy churning up the fluid and causing a parasitic drag.

Once tranny fluid has reached this temp it is junk and should be changed. If you don't then it gets worse and worse and soon the tranny will fail.

Start with changing the filter and fluid and check for shifting issues after that. If it is shifting to O/D and clean, you have fixed the problem. If not, it could be a solenoid problem, a torque converter problem or worse. That is when your real work begins. Let's just hope the problem is the fluid is not flowing properly and the filter and fluid replacement fixes the problem.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

sounds like your torque converter going bad. change the tranny fluid, and look for metal shavings (have a pro do this), sometimes you can squeeze enough life out of a bad tranny/torque converter by changing the fluid, or it might just be a clogged tranny filter. change the fluid, and if theres metal shavings in it, sell it while it still runs.

Shifts hard at first (when tranny is cold) then seems to shift fine. Checked tranny fluid level and it was low by a few quarts. Could this have been the problem or am I in danger?

this may have been problem[low on fluid] may be time to change that trannny fluid and filter. if you choose to do this , i recommend that you add lucas tranny treatment to the fluid change also w/new tranny filter. this frees up any sticky valves in your tranny. allows smooth shifting, and works well wlth any fluid for fords/chevy's or jeeps. the lucas will eliminate the hard shifting, been there done that issue. also the hard down shifting you did'nt mention. although you may have not noticed. add the lucas and your hard shifting issues should be gone. thank you for choosing

No shift after warm up. filter fluid changed and made it worse

the solenoids are attached to the valve body. you nust remove the side cover to replace the solenoids. Your problem is probably burt clutches in the third clutch When you changed the oil was it black? this is an indication of burt clutches. only repair would be to replace the transmission.

Have a 2000 plymouth voyager 4cyl. and the transmission keeps slipping, fluid and filter are new. What else could be wrong

I obviously havent drove your van, so I cant say this for certain, but if its slipping and it seems to gradualy get worse there is a strong chance your tranny is going out. This is not a uncommon issue on these models. I really hope thats not the case for you, but you should deffinatly have someone with some auto tranny know how look at it.
