Starting problem lately i have been starting problem on by '04 BMW X3. I have to jump start it all the time. I bought it used 6 months ago. I've also noticed that when it rain water is getting in where the battery sits. Would that be the cause? please help.

Sounds like you have either a bad temperature sending unit or a shorted wire for the temp gauge.

I got the same issue last month diagnostic proved it to be a crankshaft sensor.but do get the fuel pump chked 1st.

Did you jump the battery backwards, positive to negative? If so you have burned out the computer modules most likely.

possible causes are
crankshaft position sensor
cam shaft position sensor/s
ignition control module
broken timing belt/chain

OK, long story but here it goes (hopefully the length will help with ... I hook the jumpstarter up to the battery, let it sit 1-2 minutes, then ... The AZ rep. tells me that my battery is at 9V and this is why my car .... Mein Auto: 2004 X3 2.5i ... If battery is original (2005) it is more than likely one cell has shorted out. Z4 starter motor and related problems.

I could not start my Z this morning after not driving it for the past 4 days because of the weather. All lights come on the dash including the head lights but it won't crank. ... If the starter is not cranking because of the battery being too drained .... BMW Z4 2.5i started slow and finally would make a clicking noise.

I would recommend first to check the coolant level. If the coolant level is too low it can cause the fan to run if it detects too low of a coolant level. Also, the low warning can be a result of a low level. Make sure to check the level with the engine cold, and not running.

if you just had the oil and filter changed..the technician did not reset the alert in the cars command module..therefor the check engine light will come on until this alert is removed from the start up sequence in the cars' computer.. get that done and it should be fine..
