Yes u can, but be warned I have heard that the less costly aftermarket pumps are much less reilable than the factory replacement.

yes, you should have at least 9 mm thick insulation on the wires. motorcraft or other name brand. Also, add Motorcraft XG3A di-electric grease to the plug wire boots at both ends.

please rate if this helps you

Why would fuel pump keep going out

It could be the type/quality of fuel pump you're putting in. I recommend nothing other than Motorcraft fuel pumps on Ford vehicles. From my experience, the after market brands have a 70% fail rate. I won't put them in my customers' vehicles unless they supply the part. Then I make them sign a waver stating that they understand there is no labor warranty.

Can you tell me where the emergency shut off switch is on the 05 ford fusion 1.4 petrol please? had a small tip last night and the engine wont fire.

Its in your owner manual, or go to motorcraft.com, pro center, tech info, owner manual and look it up.

FUEL PUMP SHUT-OFF SWITCH

This device stops the electric fuel pump from sending fuel to the engine

when your vehicle has had a substantial jolt.

After an accident, if the engine cranks but does not start, this switch

may have been activated.

The fuel pump shut-off switch is

located in the front passenger

footwell area in the right upper

corner.

To reset the switch:

1. Turn the ignition to 1 (LOCK).

2. Check the fuel system for leaks.

3. If no leaks are apparent, reset the

switch by pushing in on the reset

button.

4. Turn the ignition to 3 (RUN).

5. Wait a few seconds and return

the key to 1 (LOCK).

6. Make another check for leaks.

Wheres my fuel pump relay switch at under my hood

The fuel pump relay is below the fuse box under the hood. It is the relay closest to the rear of the vehicle. It is usually green. It should only be replaced with a Motorcraft relay. Also be careful not to break the plastic parts. They tend to be brittle.

It appears the fuel pump has gone bad. How much will it cost to replace this?

Call a few shops in your area, be sure to quote that you want a "Motorcraft" or "Delphi" fuel pump. Most aftermarket pumps are not good quality. Do not buy pumps from ottozoon or other cheapo parts stores.

1995 Contour V6 will drive just fine for miles, than will stall coughs and sputters. Restarts after it sits for awhile, an hour or more. Than will drive fine. Help! This car is driven by my grand daughter

First question...
Have you replaced the fuel pump on this car?

If so, was it a ford/motorcraft fuel pump or an aftermarket one?

Ford had issues with their fuel pumps in that they had to use double seals in them. Cheaper aftermarket pumps don't always do this. So they go into vapor lock, basically they lose their prime.
It usually happens on warmer days, but not always when the pump heats up.

So when this happens again, check for fuel pump operation. Turn the key and listen for the pump to turn on and pressure up. If no noise, you have a faulty pump. If it does, the pressure may be too low for the injectors to pass fuel to the cylinders...

I had this problem on my 88 taurus wagon when stationed in England. Once I replaced the pump with a ford/motorcraft one the problem never recurred.
