2001 Concorde 3.2 L Oil Pan Removal

The oil pan plug is stripped beyond repair. I have been quoted $875 to replace the oil pan. Can a weekend warrior replace the pan himself, and where can I buy a used oil pan? Need instructions on getting the oil pan out

I have a 2004 Chrysler Concorde. The plug to the oil is stripped, but not leaking. Does this require a new oil pan or is there a part that can be placed onto the exisiting oli pan with new thread.

They make a over sized self tapping oil plug for these or you can use a universal plug like this one. Here is a link to a pic. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=626783

Stripped out oil drain plug

I have a similar situation on a 2000 VW Jetta. It's an easy fix. Do nothing to the plug, leave it there. I replace my oil using a small pump that was purchased from JC Whitney that removes the oil from the pan via the dipstick hole. Basically, it pulls the oil up via a long tube and into some container. Works fine, I recommend it. Stripped oil plug

If you use a good pair of vise grips you may be able to get it off if you adjust the visegripes just beyond your ability to clamp them and then proceed to clamp them shut with a large pair of channel lock pliers, if this does not work drill the appropriate size hole through the bolt and tap in a large easy out bolt extractor into the hole drilled and proceed to use a star socket
on the end of the extractor to unsrew the frozen oil pan bolt.

OIL CHANGE

In the oil pan located at the very bottom of the engine. The drain bolt is at the lowest point on the pan. Be careful to not strip out the bolt when replacing after your oil change. Big problem and big bucks to repair. Take your car to an oil change specialist instead. It'll be cheaper on you in the long run.
