Question about 2006 Ford F-150

Problems with pressing brakes to stop

I have a 2006 F150 4x4 supercrew. The problem just started. When I went to press my brakes, they were extreme hard to engage. I have to pump the brakes to get the truck to stop. Needless to say I am afraid to drive it anywhere.

Any suggestions as to the problem?

The vaccuum hose to the booster had burst. Luckily it was covered under a ford recall, so it didn't cost me a thing. Also, got it towed in free since I was under the powertrain warrranty. Only took them about an hour to fix.

    Thanks for the input

U either have a leaking power brake booster or a loss of vacuum to the booster.

2006 Cadillac cts tail lights stopped working! Help?

Your problem could very well be a brake switch sensor that's why they stopped working whenever you press the brakes the little plastic sensor button supposed to press down and allow the voltage to reach the tail lights to allow normal operation

The brakes lights don't work. can't tell which fuse to replace, manual does not explain well enough

You have a high mount brake light. Press the brake pedal. If it doesn't come on, replace the brake switch at the brake pedal. If it does come on and the tail lights don't, replace the turn signal switch.

Taillight works when headlights are on, but does not shine brighter when braking or signaling

Change the bulb. When you press the pedal the brake switch changes the circuit to the 21w brighter circuit for the brake light.

Have trouble getting it out of park

Check that you have working brake lamps.
2001 the shift interlock and the brake lamps are the same circuit, so if the bulbs are burnt out, or the fuse is blown, the shift interlock will not work.
Try turning the key from off to start, press and hold the brake, shift into neutral, then start the truck. This is the shift interlock bypass directions from the owners manual.

89 f250 7.3 diesel, brakes went very stiff, still stops but must press extremely hard , replaced grommet in power booster, but still same

the problem is caused by either a failed power brake booster vacuum diaphram or a loss of vacuum to the booster, most likely the booster is defective, if this is a diesel then check the enginge driven vacuum pump.

Brake lights not working when brake padel is pressed?

if the fuses are ok, check the brake light switch which is mechanically operated by the brake pedal itself.

There is a recall for valve problems. The warranty for this problem has been extended to 100,000 miles for that. Check with your dealer to see if that is the problem. If no help contact GM.
