The problem is not touching the bulb I have replaced 6 times never touched the bulb with hands or oil , seal is not the problem seal is good no moisture is getting to the bulb . Have replaced entire headlamp assembly at a cost of 700 dollars . Mazda knows the problem but does not want to fix it . Can you imagine having to fix all those wiring problems . The problem is still a mystery and only Mazda knows the solution since I have read so many other probable causes. Vote with your money and stay away from Mazda .
Ask your dealer, to check the voltage regulator when it is a few tenths of a volt or more of in the plus, the voltage can be much to high for the Bulbs.
I have a 2010 Mazda 6 and I have probably burned through at least 6 bulbs on each headlight since November 2013... I just dropped my car off at the shop AGAIN for the drivers side bulb. My mechanic has run all sorts of tests and checks and can not seem to find the problem! WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED???????
VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!

Are you touching the bulb when you putting it in ? Don't.

If it is the headlight itself. There may be a cover or shroud on the front of the engin bay. Remove that, may be a combination of clips and screws. If it does not cever the light area, it is even easier. There will probably be 3 screws or nuts, remover these and unplug the electrical to the light. From there you should just be able to pop the light out of place. If you are just replacing the bulbs. Where the power goes into the assembly, turn the clip, may be grey in color and pull out of the headlight assembly and replace the light bulb. But don't touch the new bulb the oils from your skin will damage the bulb.
