94 nissan pathfinder voltage to battery issue

Car starts hard and then runs rough, tries to cut out unless you rev the engine to above 1500 rpm's- then it may cut off or run at idle (750 rpm) but run very rough. Found that the battery needed charging and the vehicle runs good when left hooked up to the charge (on 40 amp setting) . The alternator is very old- not sure if this model ( v-6 XE ) has an external voltage regulator or not. I suspect the alternator or the battery (new less than 12 months ago) Have checked the wiring but wiring is good. Found a little oily residue in two-pronged plug on the alternator and the bolt-on / screw on wires to the alternator were secured tightly. Spark plugs were all cleaned last week trying to help run down this rough running problem. New fuel pump months ago.

Run the fault codes and check for injector problems
batteries have no set life ( that is what the warranty is for--- new batteries regularly fail at the end of the assembly line ) so if could be failing
have a load test on the battery
Have an accredited auto electrician check the output of the alternator to check it and the voltage regulator
low battery voltage will upset the ECM program

How long did the 2nd alt. last before it died? The voltage regulator is, I believe, attached to the alternator. Have u had the voltage regulator checked?

turn your key on, DO NOT TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL and start, good luck. Pumping the pedal doesn't do a thing for fuel injection. In thre days of carburetors and you had control of your own property, Pumping did a couple of things. It set the choke and added more fuel. But that was yesterday and yesterday's gone.

What would cause a 1997Nissan pathfinder to have a rough idle? I have replaced fuel filter, purge cut valve, pcv valve, etc. It won't shift above 1500 rpm

Have you cleaned the throttle body ? Check the idle air control and passageway . What do you mean by not shifting above 1500 rpm ?

Pathfinder "cuts out" at 2,300 rpm

Replace your MAF, its a little pricey around $280.00 or so but this will clear the code but make sure you have the ECM reprogrammed to perform a "learning" sequence since sometimes the code will not clear even though the vehicle will run like new. This reprogramming will most likely have to be a dealer performed procedure.

Acceleration won't go past 3000 PRM at idle

The car does have a maf, but it is rarely the cause of rough idle. Rough idle is usually caused by vacuum leak, pvc issues, or idle air control valve. What does it do, specifically, and is the engine light on?

88 pathfinder bad fuel milage

I notice my 94 pathfinder runs rough and cuts-off acting as if it is fuel starved or it has a bad coil (spark not hot enough). When I jump statrted the car with a 200 amp Battery charger /booster the engine smoothed out perfectly. So, I assumed it is the coil or the wires since I have just replaced the distributor cap and the rotor, replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter less than 200 miles ago, and the car has been sitting most of the summer without being driven. Im checking the vacuum lines and need to consider that the fuel pump, although a brand new Bosch unit could have a problem or somehow the filter is clogged. Miles on this vehicle are unknown but could be 200k judging from the wear and tear , but engine has good compression . It could be the catalytic convertor is clogged, as I have seen cars run this way before (car had a carburetor though) when the convertor clogged to the point of not running at all- could not start it and run for more than 10 seconds at a shot. The last couple of times I have started the car to diagnose the problem, the engine developed a rattle that is audible at low speed(idle and off idle) thru 1500 rpm. Thinking it could be the tensioner on the timiing chain has loosened-up and jumped timing. Lots of things to check- may as well run down every possibility and get it over with.

93 nissan pathfinder charging problems

check for voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should see 14 plus volts. Now turn on the lights, bower motor, and whatever else you can to put the maximum draw on the battery. If the voltage drops below 13 volts the alternator is bad.

I have a 91 nissan pathfinder it dies while i am driving it and wont start back up unless i charge the battery outside the car. I have gotten a new battery and alternator so i cant figure out the problem.

Once you have the engine running, place a volt meter across the battery and measure the voltage while you run the engine at about 2000 rpm. The volt meter should read in the region of 14.5 volts. If it is below 14 volts your alternator is not charging and needs attention. Also, after the battery has been used for a while and you switch the lights on, they should brighten slightly as you rev the engine, if they do not, the alternator is definitely not working.

Engine idles perfectly and revs fine while in park. Under load the engine cuts out hard while accelerating at about 2000 rpm. Recently has had new throttle body, checked vac lines and actuator on air...

ur having fuel supply or poor electrical supply problem thats why the engine cuts off underload/ check spark plugs or airflow meter condition as well....

Won't start, engine wont rev above 2000rpm

Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle
