2002 Dodge 3500 diesel chuggs below half a tank of fuel

My work truck when it is below a half a tank will start jerking and blowing out white puffs of smoke. Already had the injectors looked at. This problem is a real pain because we are always on the fly and cant shut my truck down. Any comments or answers would be appreciated. Thank you

I do not own that truck, not do I own one, but I can tell what I know. Some fuel tanks have more than one pump, one picks up fuel up high, and the other picks up what is on the bottom. Also, if diesel pumps have in tanks filters, that could be your culprit. But since diesels have such complicated fuel delivery systems, I could not say for sure.

The first thing to do is to start monitoring the coolant level.
This will rule out the possible of headgasket coolant passage pin hole leak.
Headgasket can go at 170,000 miles+ Less if your truck is doing a lot of hauling.
