The best thing to do is go to alldatadiy.com and buy the subcription for your vehicle. It will give you the procedure to replace the timing belt and it also has all kinds of repair info, specs, wiring diagrams, etc. It is well worth the money and it is good for 1 year. My shop uses alldata and it is very helpful.

could be time for a new timing set. depends how many miles are on the engine and if something has gone wrong. they don't last forever and the belts need to be change every 75k to 100k to save doing damage to the valves and piston if it were to break. the chains will last a lot longer but still wear out

When does the timing belt need to be replaced?, I have 99,343 miles

This model does not have a valve / cam / timing belt, it uses a timing chain, and they should last the life of the engine. No maintenance required, other than regular oil changes.

Doyou need to change the water pump when changing the timing belt on an 2003 rio L4 1.6 liter engine

as you have taken apart most of the front part of the engine you might just as well do the whole job.....personally i change my belts every 75k and do the pump at the same time, labour being the highest cost.

I have 140K on by 2002 S60 what service should I complete. Did big service at 75K, timing belt never changed. What do you recommend?

You should have changed the Timing Belt at 60K niles, by not changing the Timing Belt you are taking a serious gamble on the Belt breaking on you at anytime, leaving you stranded and costing you thousands of dollars in engine repairs. If your car runs fine, No Check Engine Lights, I would just do your regular engine oil changes, flush Radiator, Change Transmission Fluid and Filter, but change the Timing Belt ASAP.

Does the 4.2 engine have a belt or timing chain.

4.2 s4 engines don't have a timing belt,It is a chain.The engine is mounted backwards,so they used a chain.

When should I change the timing belt for my Volkswagen 2002 golf!

If it's a 1.8l turbo, change it every 80k miles for safety. I've seen them break as early as 75k miles, If it's a 2.0l, then 105k miles is a good interval. ALWAYS replace the waterpump and tensioners, because w/o doing that, you might as well not do the belt. The belt dosen't break b/c of age in 99% of cases, it's b/c the water pump or tensioner locks up.
