How do i read the engine codes in a honda prelude si 1994? my check engine light is on all the time the car is running good but i would like to erase from the dash board!

U need to re-timed the engine. Check all four marks going across the two cam pully is lined up with the engine head surface.
Then check the crank pully alignment mark the single notche align to the mark on the timing cover

Your starter motor is either not getting power or in need of replacement. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with your car.

Also check your battery connections for no corrosion there as well as by the starter motor. Low voltage circuits in a car are extremely vulnerable to poor contact issues.

Sorry bud you need a starter, relay contacts in the starter are very dirty or just plain worn out.

Sounds like the catalitic converter/s are clogged up. This would cause low air flow and low compression. I've seen them so bad that they dropped the compression down to 60 lbs.

check the tranny its a code for tranny might have problem on it

Best would be to check the oil pump filter in the sump of the engine. these also clog up and drops the oil pressure resulting in a warning light

Try another known good distributor. The signal comes from inside the distributor.

You need to check the tcm for codes too. The s3 light is like the check engine light for the tcm. The VSS code might be your problem.

JUMP THIS CONNECTOR WITH A PAPER-CLIP AND TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON AND WATCH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COUNT THE FLASHES. ONE LONG FLASH AND THREE SHORT ONES INDICATES A CODE OF 13. IF THERE IS MORE THAN ONE CODE THEN IT WILL FOLLOW THE FIRST CODE. THIS WILL SOLVE YOUR TROUBLES I AM SURE. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK. P.S. IF YOU WANT TO ERASE THE CODE(S) THEN DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL FOR 10 SECONDS. BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO RESET THE CLOCK AND PRESETS.

Just fixed this myself. I found a used USDM meter/gauge out of a 1995 SI on EBAY for $200. However, I have a VTEC engine that redlines at 7500 RPM and the SI's redlines at 6500 RPM. Easy to fix by swapping the face plates inside of the meter/gauge. If your issue is the bulbs they cost a lot... around $250 each. But if your lights went out simultaneously then the bulbs are not the issue... it's the power supply where the bulbs plug into and that's located behind the drivers dash speaker (very easy to remove with only two screws holding it in). This part is more expensive at around $350, but cheaper than buying two bulbs. Scroll through every page of honda prelude listings on EBAY and you may just get lucky like I did. Hope this helps.
