Have your alternator checked, it sounds like your not putting out enough volts or amps.

U can't shift it out of park because the battery is dead, park is locked until the brak lights are activated (no power no lights), this 12 volt brak light signal un-locks the park solenoid.

SOURCE: When doors are locked and

The alarm system is triggered by any attempt to gain entry to the car without unlocking the doors with the ignition key. But if this triggering due to cold and freeze.:---Try this procedure first.:--- To reset the alarm you need to put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off 3 times fast. Then see if that is helping. ---------------- If its not then try this other procedure. In this procedure.Insert the car key on driver side door lock. Then the key to open the door, but dont pull the door to open.Just turn the key .Then again turn the key to close the door. Then remove the key out. Then again insert key on driver side door lock, open the door by turning the key ,but this time pull the door to open and then insert the key in car ignition.( Its simple.First time just insert key in driver side door lock but just turn key open /close.Then remove key out. Then second time insert key in driver side door lock, but this time open the door and insert the key in car ignition switch. This resets the system.). ------------------ But if still the alarm goes off when the temperature freezes then you need to reprogram the alarm module or disable the alarm module.Re-programming has to be done by dealer. And for disabling it you need to unplug the alarm module wire from its connections. But this is not advisable.Still the alarm module is located behind the glove box.Just unplug the alarm module wire and cover the tip of wire with a tape so it does not get in contact with any other live wire. But if alarm is disabled then it will not trigger when car is secretly open by some one else with out key.----------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Has been running perfectly fine, drove it home this afternoon, parked on the driveway. went to drive it tonight and it won't start, it won't even turn over.

Year make and model might help a bit. Things to check for are starter, alarm, spark, fuel. Does it make any noise while cranking, does it crank. The more info you supply the better the answer

This is a wild guess, but disconnect the positive terminal from your battery. Touch the cable (that went to the positive) to the negative, to drain out any capacitor in the system that is holding charge. I think you have to short it that way for about 10 seconds. Reconnect cable to positive and start car.

That will reset your computer and should reset the alarm as well.

Welcome to the world of BMW's. return the car to the seller. you got a bad one. You got an electrical short draining the battery. Bring a blank check and sign it over to the dealer. They're going to have to run through the entire electrical system to find the short. That work alone is worth more than the a used up 2001 325i.

sounds like a broken timing belt, timing belts like to break during engine cranking and engine shut down. there are inspection holes in the timing cover,if you can't determine, remove top half of timing cover and check belt for slap,if there's slap,it's broke.

All lights are supposed to turn off when a subaru key is off right? No! There is a switch on top of the steering wheel column that will turn on lights for warning when parked. You somehow have hit that switch.

Engine won't start. Dash lights flash rapidly when key turned.

the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck
