How to read oil filler levels

Hi Dave the capacity varies from vehicle to vehicle. If it has a dipstick there is two marks on it a about 1.5 inches apart, the one near the end of the stick is the mimum level, and the one higher up is the maximum level. If you are changing the oil drain and refill with 4 litres or 2 quarts. Then check the level if its below minium add around 1 litre and keep checking until the the level is at least between the two marks. Regards Jim...

Checking oil level in 2004 isuzu rodeo

Unless it is a smoker or leaker, it should not be low after a recent oil change. It is possible that it was not properly filled at the service facility, so that'd be my guess-your oil level should always be between the hash marks on the stick, which is designated with an upper and lower line on the stick.

Oli light on

I would want to check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge or replace the switch next to verify the issue. It could be something electrical or the engine really could have low oil pressure.

An image of oil on dash and next to it is min....what does it mean?????

The warning means you're low on oil and you need to top off the oil. Add about 1/4 quart of oil to the engine and check the dipstick. Add oil in 1/4 quart increments until the dipstick indicates the level correct. The dipstick on this car is hard to read, if you're uncertain about the level, just add oil in 1/4 quart increments until the warning goes off. If it goes off, then comes back after only a short time, then add 1/2 quart, and so on. These cars go through about a quart of oil every 5000 - 10000 miles normally (depending on various factors).

HOW MUCH OIL IN QUARTS DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE OIL ON A 2001 DODGE DAKOTA V8 5.9 ENGINE

Around 4 and a half plus at least a nother half for the oil filter . Look at the dip stick it has an opperating range above where it says add. As long as your in this range your Ok . Don't over fill it that may gum up your vavle train and cause leaks . If you do the oil filter you fill it then check the dip stick then start it then shut it down check the dip stick again and add oil as required to be in the opperating range and the job will be done corectly.

My oil light came on yesterday and I checked the oil. It was empty, it never has had to have oil added to it between changing and now it's empty. Someone told me it might be the oil sendor, so I want to...

Hi,
Sounds like the oil light and sender are doing their job. They are telling you, you are losing oil pressure. That will happen if you are low on oil or have pressure problems. Add oil and see if the light goes out and pressure returns. You may have leaks or a worn out engine.

I just need to know if my expedition has no oil in it how many and what is the best kind of oil to use for gas milelage?

Well if you have a an ower's manual in the car it will show you everything and how to. and to check the oil you have to pull the dipstick out and see if the level is in between Full and Low if it it is on low that mean you need to add more oil. and your owner's manual will also tell you what kind of oil it recomands you to use and I personally use Castrol. and for 1997 Ford Expedition i think 10w/40 Would be fine. and you ahev to change your oil after 3000 miles of use Sometimes more than that but 3000 just if you want to keep everything in good shape and keep your baby for a while. Good luck

Why does there need to be some underlying problem.
It maybe leaking while driving, so you do not see oil anywhere.
Regular oil checks are required of any car, new or old.
Did you add oil and see how low it was?
If it was 1-2 quarts low it maybe alright.
Add oil, run car for a few days and check it again.
