buy a service manual, it will pay for itself in parts that are not broken and less personnel injury, come on this only makes sense.

I just replaced the water pump on my 2003 Envoy XL with the 5.3L V8. Spent ALL day doing it! Would have been MUCH easier if I had the special tool that holds the water pump pulley still while you turn the nut for the fan clutch. There are 4 holes in the pulley that have to be pinned (at least 2) with a special wrench. I managed to make something myself using a piece of scrap metal and a couple of 5/16" bolts, but it was a royal pain. Tried three different auto parts stores for tool rental, but they only had tools for pulleys with bolt heads sticking out, not holes in the pulley. Autozone.com has online repair information that was VERY helpful. I didn't have to buy the manual because they had all the info on their site. I also used the trailvoy.com forum to get some tips from others that had done it.

2006 trailblazer fan clutch water pump. Trailvoy.com has a great how to on this topic. I followed it to the letter, without any special tools. First and formost, leave the belt on, as that will apply the necessary friction to remove the attaching bolt to the hardware. They suggested using a hammer and tap a 1 1/2 open end wrench, worked beautifully. Left the belt on while I turned the nut, and lifted the fan. the only problem I had was with the new parts themselves not lining up, and installing the shroud back into its original location. There are two guide pins at the bottom that line up with guide holes in the radiator frame. If those pins are aligned just right, the shroud will not allow the fanblades/clutch to line up correctly. Also, be sure that the new water pump and new fan clutch match, thread to thread. I had to change the water pump twice for this reason.

best thing is to unhook your battery positive terminal first. advancedauto has the tool to do this. it will take you a good half hour with the presure reg already to go. also purchase all the gaskets for the housing don't reuse the old ones.

Passenger front headlamp bulb replacement required

Remove the carpet covering the inside near the headlight. Remove round rubber plug. (pull hard, the plug has NO WIRES coming out of it) Use the 5mm wrench that is in the toolkit. (toolkit is behind the spare tire). Turn the wrench 180 degrees and the whole headlight assembly will loosen. Pull out the whole assembly. Remove plastic end cap. The high beam, low beam and parking bulbs are all right inside that cover. Just did my 2002 for the first time. This is also covered in the manual if you have one. Thanks, max327@aol.com
