Heat transfer stuck

When i turn the heat on it works but the transfer switch is stuck on defrost. I guess in the winter time defrost is the best place for it to be stuck because that is necessary ,during bad cold weather, for operation. However in the summer time i can't turn it off the defrost windshield position to send cold air out of the dash vents and it becomes a "sweat box" please help because until i get it fixed my wife will not get in it in the summer and i'll be forced to take her honda

Our temperature control actuator is bad. It's a little motor that moves the temp door. They are about $70 at the dealer. To change it you need to remove the knee trim panel on the passenger side (3 screws, 7mm socket). The actuator is in the center above the transmission hump. It has one harness plugged into it and 2 screws (5.5 mm). Take the screws out and it should drop straight down. Align the actuator with the lever on the door and put the screws in. Plug the harness back in. Turn your temp control to cold and remove the HVAC 1 fuse. Should be in the fuse panel on the drivers side of the dash. Turn your key to run and leave it on for at least 1 minute. Turn your key back off and put the fuse back in.
P.S. The trim panel is a PITA to get off, so while you have it off check to see if you have the cabin air filters and change them while you are under there.

Also there is an article in the Tech Corner on changing the cabin air filters.

SOURCE: WINDSHIELD FOGGING UP INSIDE WHEN ITS SUMMER TIME

HI,
I think you are experiencing normal condensation,
try putting the heat and AC control to the position that blows a small amount of conditioned air up through the defrosters. This dries the windshield.
Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!!

TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY NOTHING IS COMING OUT OF MY VENTS WHEN I TURN ON MY HEATER, MY DEFROSTER IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS.

There is a door inside your dash that switches from heat to defrost when you operate the dash control, it is not working. Could be as simple as a bad vacuum hose. You are lucky it is on defrost since it is close to winter.

sounds like blending door is not moving, or stuck in place, some use a relay and fuse look in fuse box ,try it with car off and switch it from one to the other and see if you hear whats going on. it may also use a vacuum control.

I own a 2003 1-ton, and the heat and a/c directional knob no longer switches from defrost to floor etc... It is stuck on vent, great for summer a/c but not for winter defrost. What is the fix?

There are two types of controllers for vents. Vacuum and electronic. Losing vacuum results in being stuck on defrost. So I will assume your's is electronic. First you will have to check to see if you have power and ground to the controller. A volt/ohm meter will check this. If you have both, then I would say the controller is bad.

1998 Ford expedition motor not running hot enough

The engine is running at 210 you can be sure of that

Look at scan tool data

Your cabin heat issue may very well be several HVAC Blend
Door Vent Motors have failed
That data should be on the scan tool as well in enhanced data
& go to the hvac module

You can switch the heat or air flow to test if they are switching properly

94 deville concours ac works sometimes then u here duct door close and digital climate temp numbers go to blank dashes and defrost comes on and is stuck wont turn off then digital numbers come back on

My first guess would be a wiring problem or the controller.
If anything goes wrong with the system, it will default to the defrost mode for safety.

Heater and defroster don't work well

Connie this sounds like your thermostat in the engine is stuck open not letting the water stay in the engine block to heat up. The fix is to replace the thermostat with a new one that will allow the water to stay in the block to warm up. The typical symptoms of a stuck open thermostat is that the air will blow somewhat warm but never hot in the winter time, but it will take a few miles for the air to warm up at all. I would check with the dealership and find out what degree thermostat to replace it with. I run a 180 degree in the summer and a 195 degree thermostat in the winter just to have hot heat in the winter. I hope this helps

Check the actuator motors on the inside on the heater box to see if they are working. They are small motors with rods mounted on the outside of the heater under the dash. This motor moves the arms that direct the heat to where you want it.
