Question about 2001 Dodge Neon

Ciggy Lighter not powered Dodge neon 2001

The ciggy lighter isn't powered, I'm assuming that a fuse has blown, I looked in the owners manual and it doesn't say which fuse is for the lighter, I'm wondering if theres a combined fuse or something but I haven't noticed any other thing in the car experiencing a problem.
Thanks in advance

The fuse for the ciggerette lighter is in the fuse box on the left side of the dash behind the cover. It is a yellow 20 amp mini fuse. It is fuse number 14.

Found the answer, just thought I would post the solution for other peoples benifit.

Is your lighter working now it doesn't say the problem was solved, if its still not woring here what I need you to do.

Pull out the lighter housing out of the dash and with a test light check for power coming to the housing if you have power at the wire itself replace the housing and the lighter element also.

Heres what happens the housing loses power between the power stud in the center of the housing and the wire connector on the back side so we think it might be a fuse, when in fact it is the housing itself.

No power to cigar lighter on right

Ciggy lighters generally have an independent fuse. Either in the engine fusebox or more commonly under the dash as an inline fuse. Normally directly behind the fitting. Fuse No 12 @ 20amp mate.

Fuse box diagram symbols

It will be a 20 amp fuse or higher thats for sure ,remove the holder and check the back as some ciggy lighters have a link and this burns out if a air pump is used

The cigarette lighter on my 1995 Toyota Corolla does not work. The radio works fine. The problem started after I used an air compressor to inflate my tires. The air compressor attaches to the cigar

On the back side of the lighter there is a fusable link between the incoming power wire and the metal tab that connects power to the lighter. This is a very small wire, bent 90 degrees, between two tabs that are mounted on the same small screw. It looks like the incoming power tab and the power to the lighter would be connected, but they are insulated from each other on the screw. If the fusable link is blown, you will have power at the power connector on the back of the lighter, but no power to the center terminal inside the lighter.

My 1998 Ford anger xlt has a fuse problem...Air conditioner doesn't work and cigerette lighter doesn't work. Are they on the same circuit? I don't have an owners manual. Thanks

Not sure what you mean when you say an air conditioner problem like if the compressor clutch isn't engaging or the blower motor isn't working, that kind of thing. Anyhow, I am about 99 percent sure they are not in any case. What I did do for you is give you pictures of the fuse layouts as well as the descriptions for each fuse (see below). You mentioned that you didn't have an owners manual. If you would like a copy, email me at with your make, model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. Don't worry, there is no cost for it. I hope this helps and good luck.

I try to find cigarette filter to replace the filter because my cigarette lighter doesn't work ( Toyota Camary LE 2000). I couldn't find it Thank you Somsak

Do you mean that you are looking for the fuse? The fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in the fuse block under the left side of the dash. it is marked "CIG". It is a 15 Amp fuse

NOTE: This fuse also powers your clock, air bag sensor assembly, remote control mirror switch and your shift lock. If this fuse is blown, you will also have problems with these items.

Your vehicle is also equipped with an auxilliary power outlet (Which looks the same as the cigarette lighter socket) it is powered by the fuse marked "*1" If this fuse is blown, only the power outlet will not work. This also is a 15 Amp fuse. (See picture below)

I have a 2001 durango 5.9 I can't seem to get the power outlet working I've checked both fuse locations fuses were good but still replaced and still no power at any location my question is there an inline...

take socket out and on the bottom is a wire link from the + connection to the middle connection on the socket and they break internally under the insulation as they can only handle about 10 amp and a power air pump or ciggy lighter uses more power than this

Ford focus 2003 TDCI the cigarette lighter power outtlet won't power my portable sat nav or tyre inflator assume no power to the lighter ?? can you help thanks

The fuse for tis lighter assembly has probably blown. Look in the fusebox for a blown blue color fuse. Replace this for a 20 amp yellow one. If you are powering items from this plug, it will need the extra 5 amp to cope. Hope this helps

Liter wont work

i assume that you mean the 12 v outlet socket or ciggy lighter ,well having done quite a few of late for the dreaded sat nav i have found that a lot of these units are using a sort of double insulated feed on the socket and if you firstly check for a feed and if you have a feed but it still doesnt work then remove the socket and look on the back and you will see a small wire loop from the + feed to the inner part ,well what happens is this loop wire ceases to function so the socket isnt live .What i do here is to solder a new loop wire between the two connections and it will all work again but do not use a air pump or ciggy lighter in the socket at it could knock out your soldered joint again .
