Question about 1995 Mercury Cougar

Locked out How do I disable the automatic door locks on my 1995 Mercury Cougar XR7. It locks when you trun on the car, then if you do not remember to unlock before you shut the door, you are now locked out with the car running with your keys in the ignition. I do not have the little key fob, which someone had suggested I could repropgram with. Thanks, Pam

You should have a little black box behind the pannel on the drivers door disconect the wires this will disable the centrel locking system till you get it fixed.

Were is crankshaft position sensor located on a 95 mercury cougar xr7?

First, if you would like to receive USEFUL information about your vehicle, (ESPECIALLY when you are asking about engine controls) it would be nice if you would mention WHICH ENGINE your vehicle is equipped with!

1995 Mercury Cougar XR7 was equipped with 3 different engines:
3.8L NON-SC VIN CODE [4]
3.8L SC VIN CODE [R]
4.6L V-8 VIN CODE [W]

The crank sensor for both of the 3.8L engines is located at the lower right FRONT of the engine.

The crank sensor for the 4.6L engine is located at the lower right REAR of the engine.

1997 mercury cougar door stuck shut

Hi there I had a similar problem on a 98' ford explorer and replaced the door lock actuator and solved the problem in one shot. If you never worked in cars well it will be a little tricky but if you have little experience well then you have to remove the door panels carefully to avoid damaging any plastic hold screws, once removed try to aceess the door lock from the panel to get it open since it is easier to work. Now with the door open and window up then remove the mounting brackets of the window in order to get to the lock actuator. It is hold by two only one screw just remove the wire hook up and remove actuator. install new one and put everything back good luck..
