The codes all have to be cleared by using a scanner but if the reason the light was on has not been fixed the light will just come back on. If the problem has been fixed the light will go out on it's own after 25 warmup/cooldown cycles. Autozone will read the codes for you free of charge but they will not clear the codes to shut the light off. You either need to buy a scanner or take it to someone who has one. Good luck

It depends what car you have,but for most cars just disconect the battery for about 10 min if you don't have a scanner and your service engine light will go off.But keep in mind that it might come back if there is problem with your vehicle.
you have to unhook the battery for about 20-30 minutes, and this will reset your check engine light. If it comes back, you have a problem that needs attention; it may be a sensor gone bad, or something along those lines, but you will have to have the code scanned to find out what's up with it in order to fix the actual problem.

There are hundreds of things that trip that light. You need to have your vehicle codes scanned to see what has caused it. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap, but this is an easy way to figure it out!
Take it to auto zone, they will turn it off for you, or any auto parts store will do it. Or you can try unhooking the NEG. battery cable for a few minutes and then hook it back up and see if it don't go off then. Just make sure you unhook the NEG. NOT POS.
un plug the batt and turn the switch on and try to start it for 20 sec then reconnect the batt the service engine soon light will be off if ther is no reason for it to be on
sir, service engine soon is your emissions light malfunction indicator, meaning your car will not pass a smog test. It will not pass inspection in most places either. It can't be reset and stay off till the problem is fixed. Any auto parts store can retrieve the code for you and most like Autozone do it for free, Most common reason for the service engine soon light tends to be an oxygen sensor. But with the code it will lead you to the problem. Hope this helps.
unhook the negitve battery terminal and wait 2minutes, then unhook the positve cable, wait a couple minutes and reverse procedure. this should work. if it comes back on,you'll have to get it dianosed.
