Question about 1997 Pontiac Sunfire
The water used is causing the spark to jump to the engine instead of to the spark plug. If you are due for a new set of wires go ahead and change them. If your wires are relatively new take them off 1 at a time and spray WD-40 in and on the ends. The WD stands for water displacement that should solve your problem.
