Question about 2003 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

03 stratus missin upon accelaration

My 2003 stratus has been missing upon accelaration, usually only as it gains rpm from a stop to through first gear. twice the problem has made the engine light come on, other than the miss the car runs fine throughout. When the problem consists through 1st gear into 2nd is when the light comes on. It usually runs fine until you pull into traffic where faster accelaration is required, then it misses.

Why wont my 2003 dodge stratus wont stop accelarating

there are several possibilities, I will just suggest one, based on the age and brand of your car. You probably have a critical vacuum leak somewhere. Check all your vacuum lines for breaks, leaks or cracks.

Camshaft Sensor 2003 Dode Stratus RT 3.0

The cam sensor is usually located at the front, on the end of a cam shaft. You may also want to change the crank position sensor. BUT.......check the timing belt first, make sure it is still intact. I'm not sure if they still used the Mitsubishi engine in 03, but check your cap too. The distributor cap also (I think...) has a pick up and a silver disc under the cap. The Mitsubishi engine, they went bad frequently.

Need to find out where the accelarator sensor is on a 2003 dodge stratus so I can replace it.

It is attached to the throttle plate. Right where accelerator cables attach to.

You can go to and register for free online repair manual with step by step directions, diagrams/pics, and much much much more.

You will see where the wire harness plugs in.
