Question about 1995 Chevrolet Corsica

1 Answer

Power doors and windows won't operate

Been on another site tonight and got a few ideas but thought I'd ask here as well. Within the last few weeks, the passenger doors and windows won't open. The only door & window that will lock/unlock are driver's. Front doors will both unlock with key but only driver's with remote. Had to get out of the car to let a passenger out of the back seat! Would love to hear from anyone on this matter. Many thanks! I have a 1995 chevy corsica with power windows and power door locks. I locked the doors last nite and when I tried to open them with the key, both the driver's side and the passenger side would not unlock! All I here is a "thump" sound as if the lock can not engage. Any idea's. Thanks

What you should have done a long time ago is buy the Chilton's or Haynes' manual for your vehicle - if you had, chances are you wouldn't be asking this question on here. And if you had checked your fuses, especially for your doors and windows - power windows and locks is my clue about the fuses - you wouldn't be on here either. Odds are extremely high that the regulators for BOTH the power windows and locks AND for several of them, would go out all at once. So go to the auto parts store, get the repair manual - (about $20) - and check it for the size of fuses you need -old style or new style, depends on ago of vehicle, and go to the register and buy and then go home and flip through it. And you want to get a code reader at some point in time too. Both the manual and the code reader will help you be better informed AND will help answer questions.

Well...my ball park guess on this is just a tune up. The engine light is usually showing a misfire. If the plugs are bad then the cylinder is not igniting the fuel and it is flooding out. With what is here this makes sense to me. Let me know what it does turn out to be.

Power window (drivers side) quit working on my 2000 Pontiac Montana. Can't be a fuse issue as the passenger side still works. Any ideas on a fix?

More than likely just a faulty switch. Sometimes you can take them apart and clean them. Or, just go to an auto wrecker and get another one.

1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Battery Draining

yes. You just need an honest, qualified mechanic. I'm not saying your last mechanic was not qualified, but any mechanic should know how to search and test for an unintended drain. Sounds like that is what you have.

Go on youtube and watch videos of "unintended, or parasitic drains"-there are hundreds of them. Any mechanic with a good multi-meter should be able to find it pretty quick-within an hour or two.
I wouldn't worry about the AC-your car is too old for it-too easy to have problems with a car that old, although if you have enough money, you can do anything. Just saying it would be expensive. The window problem is not an expensive fix, probably needs a new window motor. yours probably has worn brushes. The rear defroster is easy to troubleshoot with a multi-meter. Keep at it and you will have a good car.
