Question about 1987 Toyota Pickup

1 Answer

My fan does not work in 87 pu

I have a 1987 toy. P.U. 2X4. Recently, I turned on my fan to defrost the window and the fan does not work. I checked all of the fuses top & bottom. Everything looks good. I am not sure if the fan has a separate fuse? Or may be it is the actual motor? I do not know where is the motor for the fan? If anyone has some advice I would sure appreciate it.

Thank you for responding! I tapped the motor and it still does not work. Are there any other fuses other than the ones near the battery and above the clutch?

    Thanks,

    Joe

The 20 amp fuse was okay and the 10 amp fuse was okay as well.

    Thanks,

    Joe

you should check the wires going to teh fan motor for right voltage.

You need to look closely at the heater relay block. It may have a blown fuse there, or a failed relay. It is located under the dash, to the left of the glove box. There are 2 fuses located in this block, AC and Heater, with the heater relay. The AC is the ten amp fuse, the heater is the 20 amp fuse. Please advise of your findings on the 20 amp fuse.

The first thing I would do, if your vehicle was in my shop, would be tapping on the bottom of the heater motor with a small hammer; soemtimes, the armature contacts seize inside the motor; tapping it usually frees it up; try that. The motor is under the glovebox, passenger side. Let me know what happens. Please respond.

The fuse and relay you seek is behind the glove box , drop the whole glove box for ease of access... goodluck !

SOURCE: Rear Automatic Window

Same problem, there is a small metal stopper that disables the window movement and depending upon the position of the window, will also disable the defroster and wiper. There is a service bulliten that describes a complete replacement of the window control (back door power window inoperable, toyota technical service bulletin EL 007-06). You only need to remove the stopper. follow the sections for that stopper removal. Took about half an hour. The new replacement motor and controller do not use the stopper.

For the 1987 Ford F150:

I do not know if you have the 4.9L In-Line 6-Cylinders, 5.0L V8, or the 5.8L V8 Engine or what Engine Options ( AC/No AC, etc.).

Click on the following free direct Link. It has several Serpentine Belt Diagrams for the 1987 Ford Pickups.

The ac in my '87 Acura Legend sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. The fan also runs on occasion and not necessarily when the ac is supposed to come on. The system has Climate Control. I've checked and...

Mine wasn't a LS but the freon too low to have the compressor clutch switch on. The R12 cans are expensive if you can find them. On one 87 I changed over to R134 because it was completely empty. The 2nd fan at the radiator should go on when the ac is running, even if the main fan is not.

Hi
Check for bad connection at heater resistor or try tapping heater motor lightly
with ignition switch on and heater switch on. Could be heater switch connection.
